The role involves providing dental treatment under sedation (intravenous and inhalation sedation) or local anaesthesia, with treatment under general anaesthesia provided on a weekly basis. The post holder will support the GA service.
The Department of Community Special Care Dentistry forms part of the Dental Care Group of King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and has been Consultant-led since 2002. The Department is commissioned by NHS England to provide special care and community dental services across multiple London boroughs, including special care dentistry within the Dental Hospital for medically complex patients and those requiring sedation or general anaesthesia. A mobile dental service for those experiencing homelessness operates across Lambeth & Southwark. The appointee will assess and treat urgent cardiac cases prior to surgery.
