Job description

Salary: Circa £30,000 +

Location: Immingham, Grimsby

Hours Mon - Fri 37 hours per week, day shift

Duration: Initially for 3 - 4 months then highly likely to be permanent

A new opportunity has become available for a Speciality Gas Operative to work with our client, a world leader in the production of industrial gases. The successful candidate will be based near Grimsby and will work as part of a highly trained team responsible for the filling and analysis of gases and liquids used in a vast variety of applications.

Purpose of Job

To prepare, fill and analyse a wide range of products including complex mixtures (e.g. toxic; corrosive; flammable; oxidant; flammox; inert) in high pressure cylinders safely, efficiently and to stringent quality standards including ISO Guide 34 and ISO 17025.

The duration of placement is approximately 3-4 months. It is highly likely that some permanent operator roles will be available before the placements finish so potentially any successful placements could be in prime position to secure a permanent role.

Main Duties
  • Fill pure gases and complex mixtures (including toxic and flammable types) to precise production recipes from a large database, ensuring UKAS standards are met.
  • Conduct high-accuracy analysis of raw materials and develop new gas chromatography methods under tight time constraints.
  • Inspect equipment and packages for safety and perform final product checks and labeling before dispatch.
  • Investigate non-conformances and customer complaints, applying analytical problem-solving to improve processes and liaising with technical staff as needed.
  • Manage production priorities and raw material stocks, including approval, selection, and reordering to maintain efficiency and prevent contamination.
  • Evaluate and recommend new analytical equipment to enhance laboratory capabilities.
Knowledge and Experience Required
  • FLT license required for some tasks (desirable)
  • Good computer skills
  • HNC or HND in a science related subject, preferably chemistry, or several years’ experience within BOC
  • GCSE / Functional Skills or equivalent in math's & English.
  • Experience in analytical techniques.
