Qualifications

  • Previous experience supporting children with SEN, SEMH, autism, or behavioural needs.
  • Knowledge of phonics interventions (Letters and Sounds, Read Write Inc. preferred).
  • Ability to implement EHCPs and IEPs effectively.

Specialist Support needed – Carlisle Area

Location: Carlisle & surrounding areas
Salary: £13.75 – £14.50 per hour (depending on experience)
Contract: Full-time, Part-time, and Flexible roles available
Start Date: Immediate and January 2026

About the Role

Due to high demand, we are seeking Specialist Teaching Assistants to support pupils with a range of additional needs, including:

  • Special Educational Needs (SEN)
  • Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH)
  • Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC)
  • Behavioural Challenges
  • Phonics and Literacy Interventions

You will work in inclusive primary and secondary schools, providing 1:1 and small group support, implementing EHCPs and IEPs, and adapting learning materials to meet individual needs. Roles may involve supporting pupils with communication difficulties (PECs), managing behaviour, and delivering targeted interventions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Patience, resilience, and a genuine passion for helping children succeed.
  • Relevant qualifications are desirable but not essential.
