SPECIALIST SPEECH & LANGUAGE THERAPIST – STROKE/NEUROLOGY

You will work within the Speech & Language Therapy Team to provide an efficient and effective service in line with the guidance of the Clinical Lead Speech & Language Therapists for Stroke/Neurology, the RCSLT, the HCPC, and Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

Responsibilities

Manage your own caseload of inpatients with acquired swallowing and/or communication disorders in Stroke/Neurology specialties. You will work with an expert team of SLTs providing services to Stroke/Neurology wards on the Hull Royal Infirmary site. You will have opportunities to gain specialist skills in areas such as aphasia, AAC and videofluoroscopy, and to work closely with MDT colleagues. We offer regular Videofluoroscopy clinics using the MBSImP protocol and an established, busy FEES service.

Continuing Professional Development is actively encouraged with ongoing opportunities to help shape and deliver service improvements and new ways of working, including opportunities to collaborate on research.

Qualifications and Requirements

Registration: HCPC registered

Desirable: RCSLT member

Essential qualifications: SLT degree or equivalent; Dysphagia qualification or equivalent experience

Skills / Experience: Substantial experience in assessment and treatment of adult acquired communication and swallowing disorders; experience of multidisciplinary working; excellent communication skills
