Specialist Speech and Language Therapist

We are looking to appoint a Band 6 Adult Speech and Language Therapist to join the Canterbury Coastal Team. The successful candidate will manage a varied neurological caseload, providing care in clinic settings, patients' homes, care homes, and community hospitals. To qualify for this position you must have substantial and recent experience managing a community-based adult neurological caseload and demonstrate evidence of relevant training, particularly in dysphagia. Job responsibilities
  • Manage a varied neurological caseload, providing care in clinic settings, patients' homes, care homes, and community hospitals.
  • Provide support to NHS teams, delivering excellent patient care and maintaining high standards of service.
  • Contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings and care planning.
Personal, Professional and Experience Requirements
Qualifications
  • Registered health care professional (HCPC registration as a speech and language therapist and registered member of The Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists)
  • Health related degree and evidence of relevant postgraduate development at Level 6
  • Evidence of specialist qualifications relevant to area of practice including dysphagia training and LSVT.
Experience
  • Experience in area of practice
  • Practical experience in managing health related projects/complex caseloads
  • Supporting others (mentor / educator / supervisor) experience
  • Experience with the use of Microsoft Office and a variety of IT packages (E-Pay / E-roster/ AT-P/ CIS)
Knowledge
  • Evidence of continued relevant professional development and implementation in practice within the last 12 months.
Skills
  • Ability to manage time effectively, prioritise and work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work effectively with a variety of people at all organisational levels across different sectors including areas of social deprivation
  • Ability to communicate complex, sensitive information to individuals and groups
  • Strong influencing and negotiating skills
Ability to Manage
  • Prioritise care delivery in a professional manner, taking into account Trust policies and procedures.
