Job summary

A leading healthcare provider in London seeks a Specialist Occupational Therapist to join the Vascular and Surgery Team. You will lead the assessment and treatment of patients with diverse needs and ensure the delivery of excellent clinical practice. Candidates must have relevant qualifications and experience in acute settings. The position offers a salary of £46,419 to £55,046 annually pro rata, inclusive of HCAS.

Qualifications

  • 18 months post-qualification Occupational Therapy clinical experience.
  • At least one year in an acute setting.
  • Experience working as part of a MDT team.

Overview

St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust – Specialist Occupational Therapist

Band 6 Specialised Occupational Therapist working within the Vascular and Surgery Team. The closing date is 10 October 2025. This post sits on the General Occupational Therapy rotation. The post-holder leads the assessment and treatment for a range of patients admitted under STAR, MAU, Cardiac & Renal, Haem-Oncology, Hand Therapy, Amputee Rehab, Trauma & Orthopaedics, Ortho-Geriatrics, Vascular & Surgery. Main caseload is with the Vascular cohort on Chesleden Ward, focusing on assessment, treatment and early rehabilitation of predominantly lower limb amputees.

Main duties of the job

Ensure standards of excellent clinical practice are upheld and undertake responsibility to ensure adequate training has been completed by all members of the team. Be responsible for the delegation of duties to the Therapy Technician and junior Therapists. Deliver training to ensure team members are adequately equipped to carry out assigned tasks. Attend and chair meetings relevant to the patient care and discharge planning for patients admitted under Vascular and Surgery.

Person Specification
Qualifications and Training
  • Diploma / Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • HPC Registration
  • Continued Professional Development including evidence of reflective practice, and clinical experience gained
Experience
  • 18 months post-qualification Occupational Therapy clinical experience, at least a year of which must have been in an acute setting
  • 1 year's NHS experience either as a qualified Occupational Therapist (substantive or locum) or as an undergraduate Occupational Therapy Student
  • Working as part of a MDT team within a clinical environment
  • Delegation to support staff
  • Experience of general assessment and intervention with patients in a physical setting (medical, surgical, trauma and orthopaedics and neurology)
  • Student supervision
