Job description

Overview

We are seeking a registered Mental Health Professional to join our team as an MBT Therapist. Richmond Personality Intensive Treatment Team (PDITT) delivers psychological treatment and a care programme approach (CPA) for people who meet the diagnostic criteria for Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder (EUPD) through Mentalization Based Therapy (MBT). We are a small, cohesive, and committed multidisciplinary team, dedicated to working empathically alongside our patients. The post holder is expected to:

Responsibilities
  • Be committed to effective team working and to the coherent delivery of treatment model Mentalization Based Treatment (MBT Therapy)
  • Promote and deliver a high standard of patient care.
  • Work within the Trust's CPA policy and the standards set out in the Richmond PDITT Operational Policy and PD Pathway criteria.
  • Provide out of hours work if required.
  • To work as a core member of Richmond PDITT.
  • Participate in initial screenings for patients referred to the borough-based CEN Pathway Referrals Meetings, conduct specialist assessments, and provide a series of planned assessment and engagement sessions for patients where MBT is indicated, and prepare the patient for the MBT Introductory Workshops.
  • Hold a caseload of CEN Pathway Assessment Patients.
  • Be a co-facilitator for MBT Introductory Workshops.
  • Provide an In-Reach component to the post, engaging with in-patients or linking with other Trust teams considering referrals to Richmond PDITT, and convey the CEN Pathway processes.
  • Work alongside senior clinicians to ensure that the MBT Intensive Treatment Programme is delivered, monitored, and evaluated, including group work as required.
  • Provide specialist assessments for patients referred, using complex data from multiple sources, conducting psychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales, structured observations, or semi-structured interviews with patients, others involved in care, and, when indicated, with family or significant others.
  • Formulate and implement care plans for patients being assessed or engaging with the MBT Intensive Treatment Programme, including risk management and various needs, using MBT-based interventions with evidence of efficacy.
  • Evaluate and make clinical decisions at team level about treatment options in line with theoretical and therapeutic models and complex factors.
  • Manage an individual caseload including MBT individual and group-based interventions.
  • Provide specialist clinical advice, guidance and consultation to other professionals contributing to patient formulation, diagnosis, and care plan, drawing on MBT expertise.
  • Contribute to the MBT-based framework of understanding and care for patients across the service and settings.
  • Undertake risk assessment and formal risk management planning for individual patients and advise other services on risk assessment and management for this population.
  • Act as a care co-ordinator for allocated patients, responsible for care planning and treatment reviews under enhanced CPA; signpost named carers as agreed with the patient and maintain co-working relationships within the patient's network; prepare reports for CPA meetings and contribute to meetings.
  • Be responsible for flexible management of a defined caseload to meet individual needs within CPA policy and Mental Health Act frameworks.
  • Ensure effective communication at team level to sustain a whole-team approach to patient care.
  • Implement and participate in crisis intervention measures with patients or in conjunction with other agencies or significant others.
