A leading healthcare provider in Liverpool is looking for a full-time Specialist Biomedical Scientist to support the Immunocytochemistry diagnostics in the Cellular Pathology laboratory. The role involves problem-solving for specialist equipment, quality control monitoring, and contributing to research and development of new techniques. The ideal candidate should be HCPC registered with a BSc in Biomedical Science or relevant experience in Histology. This position is based in a modern laboratory offering an engaging environment.
The successful candidate will support the delivery of Immunocytochemistry diagnostics within Cellular Pathology. The laboratory processes more than 88,000 IHC slides per annum. The post-holder will have practical and theoretical knowledge of immunocytochemistry and will work flexibly using their own initiative.
• Support the operational functionality of the laboratory, maintaining and operating analytical equipment.
• Problem‑solve specialist equipment used for immunocytochemical staining.
• Regularly review staining results and monitor internal quality control trends.
• Contribute to research, development and implementation of new immunocytochemical and in situ hybridisation techniques.
• Evaluate new equipment as required.
• Work autonomously and as part of a team, deputising for the team leader.
• Involve in recruitment, training, health and safety, validation and verification, audit and other aspects of quality management.
• Full‑time Specialist Biomedical Scientist.
• HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist with experience in Histology and a strong understanding of Immunocytochemistry testing in Cellular Pathology.
• BSc in Biomedical Science or equivalent.
• Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council as a BMS.
• Completed the IBMS Specialist Diploma in Cellular Pathology – or 2 years of demonstrable equivalent experience in Histology.
The role is based in the Liverpool Clinical Laboratories (LCL) Immunocytochemistry Team. It offers an engaging environment within a modern, well‑equipped laboratory setting.
