Sous Chef - Imjin Barracks

Location : Imjin Barracks

⏰ Hours : 40 hours per week

Pay : £15.72 per hour

Shift Pattern :

• Early : 06:30 - 14:00
• Late : 12:00 - 19:30
• 1 in 4 weekends required

Meal Service Times

• Breakfast : 07:00 - 08:00
• Lunch : 12:00 - 13:00
• Evening Meal : 18:00 - 19:00

We’re currently recruiting an experienced and motivated Sous Chef to join our team at Imjin Barracks , supporting the delivery of high-quality food for the Defence sector. As a Sous Chef, you will work closely with the Head Chef to manage day-to-day kitchen operations, ensuring every meal served is nutritious, well‑presented, and consistently delivered to a high standard.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Supporting the Head Chef in the daily running of the kitchen
• Preparing, cooking, and serving high-quality food across all meal services
• Assisting with menu development and the implementation of new food concepts
• Supervising kitchen sections to ensure consistency and quality
• Monitoring stock levels, ordering, and assisting with inventory control
• Maintaining the highest standards of food hygiene, safety, and cleanliness
• Ensuring full compliance with Food Handling, Hygiene, and Health & Safety regulations
• Leading, motivating, and supporting junior kitchen staff

About You

We’re looking for someone who :

• Has proven experience as a Sous Chef or a strong Senior Chef de Partie ready to step up
• Holds City & Guilds 706 / 1 & 2, NVQ equivalent, and a Food Hygiene Certificate
• Is passionate about great‑tasting food and high‑quality service
• Has experience supervising, training, and motivating a kitchen team
• Is reliable, adaptable, and thrives in a fast‑paced kitchen environment
• Has a flexible approach to working hours and shift patterns
