Job description

Sword is a leading provider of business technology solutions within the Energy, Public and Finance Sectors, driving transformational change within our clients. We use proven technology, specialist teams and domain expertise to build solid technical foundations across platforms, data, and business applications. We have a passion for using technology to solve business problems, working in partnership with our clients to help in achieving their goals.

About the role:

As a Solution Architect, you will play a central role in shaping the technical direction of complex operational technology programmes, with a particular focus on PowerOn ADMS and its interactions across OT and IT environments. You will work closely with business teams, operational SMEs, engineers and delivery partners to ensure solutions are technically sound, feasible and aligned with architectural standards. This role suits someone who enjoys working across both high-level design and practical technical detail, who can quickly validate requirements against system capabilities and who brings clarity to decision-making in fast-paced, regulated contexts.

As the Solution Architect, you will
  • Assess technical feasibility of proposed solutions, ensuring alignment with PowerOn ADMS capabilities, data structures, workflows and integration patterns.
  • Analyse dependencies across OT and IT systems, evaluate constraints and provide clear, evidence-based recommendations to guide design decisions.
  • Develop high-level solution options, architecture diagrams and technical artefacts required for governance and assurance.
  • Support the definition of integration approaches and interface specifications, advising on performance, resilience, scalability and non-functional requirements.
  • Work closely with Business Analysts to translate requirements into architecture-aligned designs and engage with SMEs to validate assumptions.
  • Contribute to design reviews, steer risk identification early in the lifecycle and ensure that documentation is complete, clear and compliant.
  • Practical and demonstrable experience working with PowerOn ADMS, including knowledge of its data structures, workflows, configuration and integration patterns.
  • Experience working within operational technology, ADMS, SCADA or other real-time system environments would be highly beneficial.
  • Understanding of how operational platforms interact with wider IT architecture.
  • Confidence producing architecture artefacts, shaping solution options and supporting technical governance.
  • Ability to advise on constraints, dependencies, performance, resilience and other non-functional considerations.
  • Experience operating within regulated environments such as energy, utilities or critical national infrastructure.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly.
  • Analytical capability to assess feasibility quickly and accurately in a fast-moving delivery environment.
