Your new role - Social & Video Producer

Are you a content creator and video editor with a love of podcasts, a passion for news and a flair for producing, editing, and making engaging social media content? If you thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, where your organisational and video editing skills will be as valued as your creative thinking, this role is for you.

As Social and Video Producer, you will work closely with audio producers and the wider podcast digital team to create content that drives views, builds audience, and amplifies the impact of Global’s slate of original podcasts. Generating fresh and exciting ideas for assets and short form video, you will develop and execute social media strategies for Global’s award-winning daily news podcast, The News Agents. This role requires a blend of video and photo editing, creativity, analytical skills, and a strong understanding of current social media trends.

Key Responsibilities
  • Content Creation and Planning (60%): Create a schedule of engaging video content for The News Agents to help audiences discover our podcasts.

  • Shoots (20%): Together with the podcast digital team, work with presenters and producers to create visual content for our social media platforms.

  • Analysis (20%): Use analytics to provide feedback to relevant teams and improve output of content.

What Success Looks Like

In your first few months, you’ll have:

  • Built strong relationships with podcast team, digital team, and wider Global Player teams

  • Planned, produced (including video editing) and scheduled engaging social posts for our podcasts, optimising content for various channels and developing a knack for what makes a post fly

  • Take ownership over podcast social channels and YouTube, acting as the content manager for these channels

  • Embraced our workflows, ensuring smooth, efficient delivery of content

  • Thrived in a supportive, passionate team

What You’ll Need
  • A passion for podcasts and the podcasting community

  • Knowledge of and an interest in news and current affairs.

  • Strong video editing skills and knowing what works best in short form and long form

  • Strong copywriting and photos skills for writing video captions and making incredibly clickable thumbnails

  • Proficiency in content creation tools such as Premiere Pro, Photoshop and Canva. Motion Graphics a plus.

  • Strong understanding of social media platforms, trends, and best practices. Priority platforms are Instagram, TikTok and YouTube.

  • Experience in community management and audience engagement

  • Analytical skills, you’ll be able to track content performance and make recommendations back to wider production teams on a 24/7 basis

  • Attention to detail: A meticulousness in ensuring every piece of content is of the highest standard

  • Flexibility & positivity: A can-do attitude to managing a busy schedule of video and social content production and distribution and delivering top results to share with the team
