Good Morning,

I am currently representing Gloucestershire County Council who are offering an initial temporary contract for a period of 6 months with a view to be extended or offered a permanent position for the right candidate at a rate of which is negotiable dependent upon experience.

We are looking for a Social Care Practitioner which will be based at: BS37 5AF

The Adult Strategic Safeguarding Team sits within the Commissioning, Performance and Housing Division with the department of People. The team is responsible for all Strategic Safeguarding issues in relation to Adults, including leading organisational safeguarding enquiries, contributing to departmental and multi-agency quality assurance work, and the processing of complaints. The work is overseen by the Local Safeguarding Adults Board (made up of partner organisations including health and the police) and involves a range of multi-agency initiatives to monitor good practice across partner agencies.

Hybrid working: This role is hybrid, predominantly you will be working at home, with occasional days working in the Yate office or out in the community. Ideally, therefore candidate will be locally based.

What you will be doing:

  • Under the day to day supervision of the Senior Practitioner/Team Manager the post holder will work in the adult strategic safeguarding team to ensure effective links with service providers, the council's operational, contracts and commissioning teams and external regulatory bodies. The post holder will work proactively to work in partnership with service providers to maintain good levels of care and support and address concerns where there arise.
  • You will be responsible for maintaining records of safeguarding concerns relating to service providers, make recommendations in relation to Organisational Safeguarding issues and with the support of the Senior Practitioner or Team Manager participate in organisational safeguarding meetings. You will carry out visits to service providers and write reports relating to these.
  • We require you to liaise with colleagues within the council and partner agencies. You will collate feedback from Service Users and families to ensure their voice remains central to the work of the team.
  • You will maintain accurate and up to date records, including full use of electronic data systems. This will include logging and monitoring of safeguarding concerns.
  • Part of the role, will require you to visit service providers. On occasion you may be required to meet with people living in residential services whose behaviour is challenging.

Person Specification:

  • A relevant qualification e.g. NVQ Level 3 in health or social care or equivalent.
  • Ability to gather information from a variety of sources and follow assessment processes.
  • Experience in a relevant area of statutory or voluntary sector work in the health or social care field.
  • Ability to maintain timely and accurate records and produce clear assessment plans.
  • Understanding of the needs of service users and good interpersonal skills. Ability to work alongside service users, other professionals and service providers in a way that promotes independence and personal choice.
