Job summary

A Defence organization in Greater London is seeking a Staff Officer to identify and analyze operational lessons for Defence Force Development (DFD). Job description

Staff officer responsible for the identification and analysis of Defence lessons their coherence and exploitation across Defence including pan-enterprise pan-government and inter-ally alignment. Responsible for the identification and exploitation of operational lessons working with other teams to deliver findings to inform Defence Force Development (DFD).

Responsibilities
  • Identify insights relevant to DFD and the Joint Force by engaging with the sS and Command lessons teams elevating Tac / Op / Strat insights as required.
  • Maintain close liaison with sS warfare centres to identify Joint operational and strategic level insights and agree exploitation routes.
  • Produce prioritised actionable findings for the IWB through analysis of insights and lessons identified.
  • Support the rapid exploitation of insights by operational headquarters to develop current ops.
  • Support the publication of insights for wider Defence exploitation.
  • Act as primary Liaison Officer for the L&E team to the Operational Advantage Centre to maximise lessons and info sharing between warfare centres.
  • Support SO2 Operational Lessons Support through the continual development of AI tooling and capabilities procedures and best practice.
  • Promote lessons best practice the lessons policy and ecosystem and advocating the correct use of DLIMS.
Domestic

There are no specific domestic considerations for this post. Hybrid working is allowed (current CSOC guidance is 60% of time in office); however routine access to secret CIS will be required. Some travel within the UK (primarily) and overseas (occasionally) is required primarily during the working week. Accommodation is in Northwood Mess (or SSSA) or SFA in North-West London area (Northwood Bushey Heath Ickenham Uxbridge).

Employer Comments

This appointment requires an officer with a sound understanding of Joint and Combined operations Defence Force Development and / or the Capability Acquisition process and who is comfortable with both strategic and operational thinking. Professional credibility derived from previous Command experience would be most beneficial to the role. Previous understanding and / or experience of NATO and operations in the EA2 Theatre would be beneficial.
