Overview

Skilled CNC Lathe Turner – Sheffield, S9. Two weeks days, two weeks nights (rotation). Day rate: £18.01ph-£19.49ph. Night rate: £20.51ph-£22.20ph.

Metalis are currently working with a reputable company based in Sheffield that are looking for a Skilled CNC Lathe Turner to join the team on a Permanent basis. They’re currently looking for Manual Centre Lathe & CNC Lathe turners, ideally time served but not essential, to machine centrifugally cast spun tube, rolled bar, forgings & offset carriers to supply the Aerospace, Oil & Gas, Power & Petrochemical industries.

Responsibilities
  • Setting & operating CNC Lathe.
  • Working with Fanuc Series OI-TD controlled lathes.
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and translating them into work instructions.
  • Data collection, i.e. recording measurements before and after machining.
  • Visual inspection of machined components.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Operate independently and also contribute to a team environment.
What Kind of Person Fits This Job?
  • Experience using long bed lathes, machining standard bored/profiled tubes and offsets, using either CNC with Fanuc Series OI-TD or manual controls, turning component lengths up to 10 metres long in stainless/ super and carbon alloys.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in turning within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience using overhead cranes.
  • Familiarity with modern management techniques such as TPM and 5S.
  • Must be able to work to tolerance and accurately using micrometres/calipers/bore comparators, wall gauges and surface gauges.
  • Must have high attention to detail.
The Basics
  • Days: 06:00am – 4:15pm, Mon-Thu.
  • Nights: 07:45pm – 6:00am, Mon-Thu.
  • Two weeks days, two weeks nights (rotation).
  • Day rate: £18.01ph-£19.49ph.
  • Night rate: £20.51ph-£22.20ph.
