Job summary

A leading construction firm is seeking a Site Manager for civils works on overhead lines projects across the UK. The role involves managing site activities, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards, and maintaining effective communication with clients and contractors. Candidates must have experience in civil works and people management, preferably on projects with National Grid or similar entities. Overview

Site Manager, Civils — Location: Hybrid, UK. Industry: OHL / Civils. Scope of Work: An important role in the business, playing a key part in the management and delivery of the civils works on overhead lines projects in England, Scotland and Wales.

Responsibilities
  • Managing sites and contractors in line with client contracts; managing successful day to day relationships with clients to ensure a good working environment, clear communication, and offering expertise when advising on site.
  • Successful delivery of client contracts ensuring cost efficiency, through the effective management of labour, plant and materials and on time delivery of reports / projects.
  • Ensuring on site adherence to H&S standards, ensuring toolbox talks are delivered and all H&S paperwork is completed weekly; taking a lead role in supporting the H&S calendar of events ensuring near misses and good catches are reported weekly, audits are carried out on site monthly and monthly H&S focus is driven at all times when on site.
  • Ensuring setting out and levels are carried out accurately when required; and accurate records are kept for day to day tasks and works completed.
  • Ensuring accurate reporting of findings in all investigations carried out for the client, ensuring reports are prepared and uploaded to agreed targets where applicable.
  • Leading those on site through clear daily communication, giving clear direction and listening to the ideas and feedback from the team.
Required experience / qualifications
  • Experience on the civil works for an OHL install / refurbishment / upgrade project.
  • Experience in a people management role on site.
  • Experience on a National Grid, SSEN, SPEN or similar project.
