Job description
Overview

We are seeking to place a Shift Technician within the Maintenance Department at our Barnstone site to cover a period of long-term sickness. This temporary placement provides an opportunity to work within a fast-paced, 24/7 operational environment, supporting production through the provision of high-quality maintenance services. The successful candidate will join a team of multi-skilled technicians working alongside production shifts to ensure plant reliability and efficiency.

Please note: This role operates on a rotating day and night shift pattern, including weekend coverage as required. The full-time shift technician role averages 37 hours per week, although weekly hours vary across a 4-week rotation.

Responsibilities
  • Provide electrical and mechanical maintenance support across the site, including fault diagnosis, repair, and planned maintenance
  • Support process reliability by ensuring equipment is maintained in a safe and efficient condition
  • Assist with the execution of preventive and corrective maintenance tasks in accordance with departmental schedules and standards
  • Comply with all site Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations and procedures
  • Collaborate effectively with the production and engineering teams to minimise downtime and improve performance
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities using the site's maintenance management system
  • Support root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives within the maintenance function
Candidate Requirements
  • Minimum NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Maintenance (or equivalent)
  • Time-served Electrical / Process Control Engineering craftsperson
  • Mechanical experience is essential - dual-qualified candidates are preferred
  • Good working knowledge of industrial electrical and mechanical systems
  • A sound understanding of Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations, ideally within the cement or heavy manufacturing industry
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to working rotating shifts (day and night) in a 24/7 operation
