Junior Maintenance Technician

Location: Peterborough

Salary: Up to £26,100

Type: Full Time, Permanent role.

Are you a hands‑on, mechanically minded technician looking to build your engineering career in a fast‑moving manufacturing environment?

This is a great opportunity to join a well‑established production site that values reliability, teamwork, and continuous improvement. You’ll be supporting the Senior Engineer and Engineering Manager to keep machinery running safely and efficiently across a busy processing facility.

You’ll gain exposure to planned maintenance, basic fault‑finding, machine adjustments, and site engineering systems ideal for someone early in their maintenance career.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out routine planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on production machinery and site equipment.
• Support the engineering team with basic repairs, adjustments, and day‑to‑day engineering tasks.
• Provide engineering cover during shifts and follow escalation processes for more complex issues.
• Work closely with Production Supervisors to keep machines running efficiently and minimise downtime.
• Contribute ideas to help reduce engineering downtime and improve machine reliability.

Skills & Experience Required

• Engineering apprenticeship, college training, or practical experience in a mechanical/maintenance environment.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to stay organised on a busy shift.
• Comfortable working with tools, carrying out checks, and assisting with basic fault‑finding.
• A proactive and reliable approach with a willingness to learn from experienced engineers.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both engineering and production teams.
• Competent recording information and maintaining accurate digital logs.
