Calling all Industrial sewing machinists!

gap personnel are currently recruiting a full time, permanent sewing machinist for our client in Southend.

Permanent, Full-Time, 39 Hours

Mon - Thurs: 8:00 - 17:00 (30 mins lunch)
Fri: 8:00 - 13:00 (no lunch)

£14.76 DOE

Responsibilities
  • Overlock cut parts according to instructions/training.
  • Seam cut parts into finished items, utilizing drawings, templates, work instructions, and/or samples as references.
  • Perform any necessary reworks as directed by management, supervision, or inspection.
  • Maintain cleanliness and regular oiling of sewing machine/overlocker, promptly reporting any faults to the Team Leader.
  • Adhere to guidelines/instructions to ensure traceability is upheld.
  • Execute duties in a proper and efficient manner, consistently acting in the Company's best interest and complying with Company Rules and Regulations.
  • Uphold high standards of housekeeping.
  • Assist team members with other tasks as needed.
  • Contribute to creating and sustaining a safe working environment, adhering to published Health and Safety procedures.
  • Undertake any other reasonable and relevant tasks as required.
Skills/Experience
  • Holds a minimum of GCSE Level education (or equivalent)
  • Possesses basic English communication skills and can comprehend spoken instructions
  • Proficient in operating industrial sewing machines
  • Familiar with overlocking techniques
  • Previous experience in sewing a variety of items to understand product assembly from cut parts
  • Capable of working autonomously while fostering teamwork
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure and meet deadlines
