Key Accountabilities:
- Maintain and repair a wide range of machinery and equipment, including gas boilers, steam autoclaves and lines, lifts, waste effluent plant, compressed air systems, domestic water systems, and cooling towers.
- Perform mechanical and electrical repairs and preventative maintenance, proactively identifying key equipment requiring attention.
- Participate in projects assigned by the Engineering Department, showcasing your expertise and contributing to ongoing improvements.
- Respond promptly to breakdowns, ensuring efficient and effective resolution.
- Foster strong collaboration with the engineering team and establish excellent communication and feedback channels with the production department.
- Champion a safety culture within the factory, adhering to health and safety requirements, safe systems of work, and relevant legislation.
Candidate Attributes:
- Time served in a factory services environment or relevant workplace experience.
- Strong fault finding and testing skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve issues efficiently.
- BOAS or equivalent training in boiler operations, with experience working with steam boilers.
- Familiarity with boiler water treatment and water softening plant is desirable.
- Experience in preparing for non-destructive testing (NDT) of pressure vessels.
- Knowledge of steam supplies and ancillary equipment, including pipe fitting skills.
- Experience in working with compressed air supplies and ancillary equipment, including pipe fitting skills.
- Plumbing skills aligned with maintenance duties and control of Legionella.
- Desirable experience with traction and hydraulic lifts.
- Capability to use workshop machines is advantageous.
- Possession of an electrical qualification such as NVQ2 or 18th Edition certification.
Hours:
- Monday to Thursday: 7:30 am to 4:00 pm
- Friday: 7:30 am to 3:00 pm
Package:
- Competitive salary of up to £32,000, depending on experience.
