Qualifications

Job description

Survey Solutions is a leading engineering surveyor specialising in land, measured building and underground utility surveys as well as monitoring and site engineering schemes. We are looking to appoint a Senior Surveyor within the land department in our Ipswich office. We have a network of ten offices with our teams of surveyors and engineers working on some of the UK’s major construction and infrastructure developments.

As a Senior Surveyor you will play an important role supervising a team of surveyors and trainee staff. You will work closely to support the office Survey Manager, ensuring that projects are completed on time and to the company’s high technical standards. You will be responsible for leading a variety of large-scale, complex utilities, CCTV and drainage projects. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to complete training days with field-based staff.

This is a full-time role with office hours of Monday to Friday from 9.00 – 5.30, however site hours will vary so overtime and occasional weekend working will be required.

Main Duties/Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Surveyor, you will:

  • Supervise and mentor a dedicated surveying team
  • Support and deputise for the Survey Manager when required, including holiday cover for client quotations, leading team briefings and individual job briefings
  • Complete complex and large-scale utilities surveys to a high standard independently and as part of a team
  • Take the lead on large complex utilities, CCTV and drainage projects and measured building surveying projects, working with team members of various technical ability and experience
  • Completing checking procedures on utilities and CCTV surveys and approving jobs for issue to clients
  • Approving jobs from the surveying team before they are sent to clients
  • Liaising with clients with site queries, project queries, site issues, with the ability to resolve complex issues independently
Requirements

The Person:

  • 4 years’ experience working as Utility Surveyor, in a Senior Surveyor or Experienced Surveyor role
  • Previous experience completing training with surveyors of various levels
  • Proficient in post processing GPR data, using Win Can CCTV software and in N4Ce
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to multi-task and meet key deadlines
  • Professional and approachable manner with excellent communication skills
  • Able to confidently provide expert advice, feedback and technical support to surveyors in office and site activities
  • Thames Water Passport
  • CSCS Card
  • QCF Level 3
  • Working towards QCF Level 5 is desirable
  • Traffic Management desirable
  • Driving Licence
  • Right to Work in the UK
