Qualifications

  • Deep professional experience with AWS core services (EC2, VPC, EKS, RDS, IAM).
  • Strong hands-on experience with Prometheus and Grafana.
  • Proficiency with Terraform and Terragrunt for managing environments.
  • Extensive experience managing production Kubernetes clusters.
  • Proven experience building CI/CD pipelines using GitHub and Octopus Deploy.
  • Ability to read and debug code in Golang or PHP.

Job description

Based in Cardiff we are a fast-growing scale-up looking for a Senior TechOps Engineer to take ownership of our cloud infrastructure and observability standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Infrastructure as Code : Design build and maintain our AWS infrastructure using Terraform and Terragrunt . You will drive the standards for state management and modular architecture.
  • Advanced Observability : Architect and maintain a comprehensive monitoring stack. You will configure Prometheus for metrics visualise data in Grafana and standardise distributed tracing across our services using OpenTelemetry .
  • Global Networking : Implement and manage traffic management strategies using AWS Global Accelerator to ensure low-latency performance for our global client base.
  • Orchestration : Manage and scale our Kubernetes (EKS) clusters ensuring high availability and resource optimization.
  • CI / CD Automation : Optimise our build and deploy pipelines using GitHub Actions and Octopus Deploy moving us toward continuous delivery.
  • Application Health : Own the implementation of Sentry for real-time error tracking and performance monitoring across our Golang PHP and applications.
  • Security & Secrets : Own the secrets management lifecycle using HashiCorp Vault ensuring we adhere to the strict security standards required in FinTech.
Qualifications
Essential Requirements
  • Cloud Expert : Deep professional experience with AWS core services (EC2 VPC EKS RDS IAM).
  • Observability Stack : Strong hands-on experience with Prometheus (PromQL) and Grafana . You understand the difference between logging metrics and tracing.
  • IaC Mastery : Strong proficiency with Terraform and specifically Terragrunt for managing complex environments.
  • Container Orchestration : Extensive experience managing production Kubernetes clusters (Helm charts ingress controllers auto-scaling).
  • CI / CD : Proven experience building pipelines such as GitHub CI and Octopus Deploy .
  • Language Familiarity : Ability to read and debug code in at least one of our core languages : Golang PHP or .
Desirable Requirements
  • Global Accelerator : Hands-on experience implementing AWS Global Accelerator for multi-region resilience and latency optimization. This is a key differentiator for this role.
  • OpenTelemetry : Experience implementing OpenTelemetry collectors and instrumentation libraries to standardise traces.
  • FinTech Experience : Understanding of the regulatory and security constraints within financial services (SOC2 ISO27001).
