Overview

Position: Senior Technology Engineer. Location: Any nationwide office location across England / Hybrid working. Salary: £46,000 - £52,000 plus package. Industry: Highways. Based in the Operational Control Division.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical expertise in identifying and evaluating technology asset needs and early solutions, while ensuring adherence to asset policies and standards.
  • Drive as part of the role; must have no more than 3 points on driving licence to be considered for the position and during employment.
  • Develop early solutions for improvements and renewals, including compiling documents, evidence and options for value management, considering new techniques, materials, buildability and costs.
  • Support regional delivery teams by improving task briefs, improving approaches to survey works, developing standardised technology scheme designs and equipment packs to support asset improvement and/or renewal.
  • Develop the asset-led forward roadside technology programme and initial scheme development activity.
  • Maintain an accurate programme view of outputs and spend.
  • Act as a point of contact for approving/rejecting change control submissions which will result in a change to the agreed programme.
  • Provide technical support to Project Managers, Business Partners and Equipment Manufacturers by acting as a central point of contact to share learning and best practice across regions.
  • Review third-party designs for compliance with design and maintenance requirements.
  • Undertake feasibility studies, investigations, and technology research to provide innovative solutions.
About you / Qualifications
  • Chartered or Incorporated Engineer and member of a relevant professional Body with appropriate experience.
  • Degree or HND in related discipline and appropriate experience, or equivalent.
  • Experience of ITS (Intelligent Transport System).
  • Strong understanding of CDM 2015.
  • Knowledge of Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) standards and their application on the highways network.
