Job description

Senior Grants & Proposal Manager

Opportunity

At OQC, we’re building the future of computers right here in the UK. We're looking for a Senior Grants & Proposal Manager to help accelerate our commercial growth by connecting our ideas with the right funding and partners.

Adding a Senior Grants & Proposal Manager to the team will help us build strong, strategic relationships with funding bodies and industry collaborators, while crafting winning proposals that unlock new opportunities and accelerate our growth. This role is a key part of our commercial engine - working closely with product and technical teams, yet operating independently to identify, shape, and secure the opportunities and support we need to scale.

As part of our growing Commercial team, and working for Caro Ehrman (Head of Commercial) - you’ll be actively involved in:

  • Own and lead the full grant lifecycle from identifying opportunities to crafting persuasive proposals and securing funding
  • Work closely with internal teams to align proposals with our existing strategic goals and pipeline of activities
  • Spot and pursue new opportunities by staying on top of the UK and global funding landscape whilst bringing fresh, relevant leads to the table
  • Build strong, lasting relationships with funders and partners, becoming a trusted representative of OQC in key external conversations
  • Translate technical work into impact-driven narratives that resonate with funders and stakeholders, showcasing the value of what we have to offer
  • Report on progress and outcomes to leadership, using insights and data to support funding decisions and shape future strategy
  • Help drive continuous improvement, from refining internal processes to supporting the development of systems that streamline funding workflows

You’re an experienced grant or funding proposal writer, likely from an academic, science, or deep tech background. You might have worked in a scale-up, R&D team, or a public body and you know how to turn complex ideas into compelling, fundable business cases. You’re confident working independently but just as comfortable collaborating across teams to get things done.

You’ve helped secure public or private funding, built strong relationships with partners and funders, and can manage multiple bids without losing focus. Your communication skills—especially in persuasive writing - set you apart, and you’re naturally organised, commercially sharp, and able to influence at all levels.

Experience in deep tech or fast-moving sectors is a real bonus, especially if you've worked alongside product and engineering teams. A bachelors or masters in science, engineering, business or other similar discipline would be great but if you’ve proven your ability in industry, we’d love to hear from you.

Some of our benefits include; hybrid working from anywhere in the UK, plus flexible working hours, enhanced family leave, sick leave & carers leave, pension on a salary exchange basis, private medical insurance through WPA and much more!
