Senior Technical Support Officer – Radio – £44,487 – £47,700.

This role is currently eligible for a market supplement in addition to the basic salary to reflect determined market conditions. Eligibility for and value of Market factors are reviewed on an annual basis and are not contractual. It can be confirmed, therefore, that a market supplement at the rate of "£3000 (£pro rata)" per annum will be payable.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Technical Support Officer with specialist expertise in radio devices to join our IT Directorate. This is a key technical role providing expert support, development, and analysis across our radio infrastructure and associated technologies.

You’ll be part of a dynamic team responsible for the design, installation, configuration, and ongoing support of IT services and devices, ensuring they meet agreed performance and ITIL standards. Your work will directly contribute to the stability, availability, and security of our critical communications systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support and development for radio devices and infrastructure
  • Install, configure, and maintain radio systems to agreed standards
  • Diagnose and resolve faults, implement upgrades and patches
  • Monitor performance and proactively prevent service issues
  • Contribute to the development of technical standards and documentation
  • Liaise with third‑party suppliers and provide expert guidance
  • Support technical projects and deliver solutions aligned with strategic goals
  • Share knowledge and create documentation for re‑use across the IT Directorate
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry best practices
  • Recommend and implement service improvements and risk mitigation strategies

Work location:

Working at Police Headquarters, Portishead with occasional travel to other police sites (you will have access to company vehicles).

Driving licence:

There will be occasions when you are required to travel around the force area therefore the successful person will need to hold a full UK driving licence. Please note that following a successful probation period, this post has a potential on‑call requirement for which appropriate allowances will be paid.

The base salary for this role is £41,487 - £44,700, you will also receive a market factors uplift of up to £3,000 (depending on experience)
