A recruitment agency is looking for an experienced Senior Damp and Mould Surveyor to support a local authority in the South West of England. Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Damp and Mould Surveyor or Building Surveyor within social housing or local authority environments.
• Strong understanding of building pathology and damp remediation techniques.
• Experience applying HHSRS assessments.
• Knowledge of relevant legislation, including Awaab's Law and the Social Housing (Regulation) Act.
• Excellent diagnostic, communication, and report-writing skills.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.

Responsibilities

Senior Damp and Mould Surveyor – South West England (Hampshire Area)

We are seeking an experienced Senior Damp and Mould Surveyor to support a local authority or social housing provider across the South West region. This role is critical in tackling damp, mould, and condensation issues, ensuring compliance with housing legislation including Awaab's Law and the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS).

You will work autonomously, conducting inspections in occupied homes and communal areas, diagnosing problems, specifying remedial works, and managing cases through to resolution.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out property inspections to identify and diagnose damp, mould, and condensation issues, including rising and penetrating damp.
• Assess hazards under the HHSRS framework and prioritise cases based on risk.
• Prepare detailed survey reports, schedules of work, and technical specifications.
• Specify and oversee remedial works such as ventilation upgrades, fabric repairs, and mould treatment.
• Manage cases from initial inspection through to post‑completion sign‑off, ensuring compliance with regulatory timescales.
• Provide residents with practical advice to prevent recurrence.
• Collaborate with housing teams, contractors, and stakeholders for effective case management.
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to performance reporting.

Essential Skills and Experience

Desirable

• HNC/HND in Building Surveying or equivalent qualification.
• CSTDB or similar professional certification.
• Experience managing contractors and overseeing remedial works.
