A community support organization in the North East of England is looking for an enthusiastic Senior Support Worker. You will provide emotional and practical support to adults with learning disabilities and mental health needs. The role involves supervising staff, engaging in personal care and community activities. Full training and a chance to earn a QCF Diploma in Health and Social Care are provided, along with benefits such as a probationary bonus and pension contributions.
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Senior Support Worker, with the commitment and positive attitude to work alongside a Project Manager to support and supervise a dedicated staff team and deliver high quality support to adults in supported living settings in our Durham Services.
You will provide personalised, practical, emotional and social support to adults with learning disabilities, acquired brain injuries and mental health needs enabling them to lead the lives they want to live.
You will have skills in positive communication and engagement and will be able to demonstrate unconditional positive regard for the people we support. You will have the maturity to be able to work within a positive behaviour support framework, to accept responsibility and to grow in confidence as a skilled practitioner. You must be able to follow agreed guidelines and to work positively within a consistent, mutually supportive team ethos. You will be well organised and able to deploy staff reliably and effectively to meet the needs and preferences of the people we support.
You must be willing to actively embrace all aspects of the role including support with personal care and domestic tasks as well as community activities such as walking, accessing local disco, visiting museums, and places of interest. The ability to support people who can express their needs though challenging behaviour at times is essential.
Prior experience in supporting individuals with learning difficulties, and/or mental health needs is essential.
