A leading cancer care center in Chelsea is looking for a Band 6 Senior Staff Nurse to join their Private Patient Outpatient and Supportive Infusion Unit. The ideal candidate will be a registered nurse with Oncology experience and expertise in administering IV medications. This is a permanent position offering full-time and part-time roles, with a focus on patient care and staff wellbeing. We are currently looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Band 6 Senior Staff Nurse for Private Patient Outpatient and Supportive Infusion Unit at the Royal Marsden in Chelsea. This is a full-time or part-time, permanent position, with a 37.5 hour per week role and a 22.5 hour per week role available. This role will not include night shifts or weekends.
You will need to be a 1st level registered nurse with demonstrable Oncology experience and experience in the administration of IV medications and chemotherapy. Intravenous cannulation and venepuncture are desirable; full training will be provided.
In addition, you should possess excellent communication skills, be reliable, enthusiastic and an effective team member committed to providing the highest level of service for our patients.

The Senior Staff Nurse is responsible for assisting the Ward Sister / Charge Nurse in the management of the clinical environment and for the management of shifts. At Senior Staff Nurse level, the post holder is required to take responsibility for the management and development of a team of employees under the supervision of the Ward Sister / Charge Nurse.

To complete the first level assessment of patients with cancer and their families to gain an understanding of their physiological, psycho-social, spiritual and cultural needs and to develop a positive, realistic and supportive attitude to ensure these needs are met. This will include:
To plan, document, deliver and evaluate care plans from admission through to discharge / transfer, discussing this with the patient, their family and multi-disciplinary teams, and to alert the Sister/Charge Nurse of any changes. To set goals for each identified nursing issue and encourage / teach other nursing staff to do the same. To help the patient achieve set goals through care planning. As a specialist cancer nurse, to assess the educational and informational needs of the patient and family, including producing and using appropriate materials to ensure optimum understanding of nursing care and the likely outcome.
