Job summary

A regional health authority is seeking a Consultant in Spinal Surgery for a full-time role at University Hospital of Wales. This position involves participating in on-call duties, supporting a surgical team, and contributing to research and teaching. The ideal candidate must be on the GMC Specialist Register and have experience in managing complex spinal cases. The salary ranges from £110,240 to £160,951 per annum. This is a permanent contract based in Cardiff.

Qualifications

• On GMC Specialist Register for specialty or Specialty Registrar with CCT due within 6 months of interview date.
• Demonstrable experience in operative management of complex spine trauma.
• Completion of recognised Spinal Surgery fellowship.

Responsibilities

• Participate in a 1 in 6 week on-call rota for Spinal Surgery emergencies.
• Support two spinal fellows and an Orthopaedic Registrar.
• Contribute to teaching and research in Spinal Surgery.

Skills

Advanced experience in Spinal Surgery

Effective communication skills

Experience in Major Trauma Centre working

Evidence of effective leadership skills

Education

Recognised advanced fellowship in Spinal Surgery

Relevant higher degree e.g. MD, PhD, MSc in Trauma
