A prominent healthcare provider in York seeks a Senior Speech and Language Therapist to support and assess children with Neurodivergence. This part-time role (30 hours) requires working with a multidisciplinary team to deliver tailored assessments and treatments. Senior Speech and Language Therapist

Do you have an interest and passion for understanding and working with children who require assessment/treatment for Neurodivergence? Do you want to work alongside a well-established and compassionate team in helping to assess and support these families? Then we have the right role for you. York's Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services are seeking to recruit a Speech and Language Therapist to work within our Neuro pathway, part time (30 hours).

Main duties of the job

The post holder will assess children and young people to identify language concerns and possible Neurodivergence.

The successful candidate will become an integral part of the Neuro team, which will include observations, specialist assessments, and report writing, in order to deliver a clinically compliant assessment pathway for those children and young people up to the age of 18 years.

You will work with a range of professionals from a variety of different agencies including social care, acute care and a range of community and voluntary sector partners.

The team is in a position to be able to help staff develop the knowledge and experience within CAMHS and offer additional training as appropriate to role but are keen to recruit an individual who has experience in this area and can bring that experience to the team.

Qualifications
  • Appropriate professional qualification in Speech and Language Therapy role
  • Current relevant registration with specific regulatory body
  • Post graduate training in relevant specialist area
Knowledge
  • Understanding of the needs of service users with mental health conditions or learning disabilities.
  • Clinical risk assessment and application in practice
  • Knowledge of evidencebased practice in designated specialist area
  • Post graduate training in specialist area if applicable to post (e.g. dysphagia, autism diagnostics)
  • Experience of working in a multidisciplinary team
  • Experience of managing complex Speech and Language Therapy cases
  • Awareness of professional standards and its application to practice
Experience
  • Minimum 12 months post qualifying experience of Speech and Language Therapy delivery
  • Experience of supporting people with mental health issues, learning disability or autism
  • Experience of working in Multidisciplinary Team (SW essential criteria)
