Job description
Overview

Swansea Bay University Health Board invites applications for a Senior Sonographer. This post is based at Neath Port Talbot Hospital (which hosts the Minor Injury Unit) and will become the Health Board's centre of excellence for elective orthopedic and spinal surgery. The closing date is 06 October 2025.

Are you an experienced Sonographer who is looking for a new challenge near the Gower coastline? If so, we would like to hear from you. A structured induction program will be provided, and the Health Board is committed to the development of radiographers within the service. A good work-life balance is important, with the possibility of additional overtime hours. The radiology teams across all hospital sites are welcoming to new staff, and you would be encouraged to participate in social activities outside the work environment, such as paddle boarding and running clubs.

The post will involve working within a dynamic team of Sonographers and alongside supportive radiologists, offering a wide variety of ultrasound scanning.

Main duties

We are expanding our dynamic and motivated Ultrasound team and invite hardworking, enthusiastic candidates to apply for a training post. The multidisciplinary ultrasound team at Swansea has an outstanding reputation for services provided, including Abdominal, Gynaecological, Obstetric, Vascular, MSK and sonographer-led acute imaging. The post is suitable for candidates who wish to train and develop to become a Sonographer. The successful candidate will study for a qualification in Medical Ultrasound (PgC, PgD). If you have the skills we are looking for, we look forward to hearing from you. This post is advertised as a training post under Annex 21. Training will be carried out across all 3 SBU sites; once qualified there is a requirement to work across all 3 sites.
