Senior Solicitor/Associate - Dispute Resolution / Risk, Government & Compliance

We currently have an exciting opportunity a Senior Solicitor/Associate to join our market leading Risk, Government & Compliance team. We bring together experts in a range of disciplines focussed on giving advice on compliance, regulatory issues and public law. We are ranked Band 1 for the work we do by the UK legal directories. Our wide range of commercial and public sector clients are active in all sectors across Scotland and in the rest of the UK and include corporates, local authorities, central government, and non-departmental public bodies including a number of regulators. The successful applicant will focus on supporting regulators and clients in regulated sectors. Day to day work will include drafting legal advice, legal arguments, conducting investigations and representing clients in courts and tribunals. Through all of this the candidate will be expected to build and develop strong client relationships. The team advises on a broad range of issues for commercial and public sector clients, including, amongst other things, anti-bribery & corruption, environmental law, financial crime, health & safety, management of commercial and strategic risks, advice on powers and duties, all aspects of parliamentary work, judicial reviews, statutory appeals, public inquiries, and corporate crime, compliance and investigations. The work can often be complex and high profile. The successful applicant will be expected to handle a varied workload covering all areas in which the team is active, with appropriate support and instruction from senior members of the team. The successful applicant will be expected to help support the growth of the practice through both client work and co-ordinated business development activity. Opportunities will be available to develop personal advocacy skills including the potential in the longer term for entry into Brodies\' Solicitor Advocacy Unit. Experience of one or more of our practice areas is desirable but not essential, however a genuine enthusiasm and interest in the core areas of regulation and corporate criminal law is a must. An interest in advocacy would be of benefit but is not essential.
