Job description

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Senior Signalling Project Engineer to join an established engineering team delivering major signalling upgrades and renewals across the UK rail network. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced signalling professional to take technical ownership and provide engineering leadership across all stages of project delivery.

This role can be home based with weekly presence in Glasgow (1-2 days)

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the signalling engineering function on assigned projects, ensuring design and construction align with Network Rail and industry standards.
  • Provide engineering assurance, review, and approval of design deliverables.
  • Collaborate with design and project teams to deliver safe, efficient, and cost-effective solutions.
  • Support the integration of signalling systems with telecoms, E&P, and civil works.
  • Manage technical risk, change, and assurance documentation.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers, fostering professional development.
Skills & Experience:
  • Extensive experience in rail signalling engineering and project delivery.
  • Strong knowledge of Network Rail standards, GRIP/PACE processes, and safety management systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead engineering teams through design, installation, and testing stages.
  • Experience with both conventional and digital signalling systems is highly desirable.
  • Chartered Engineer status or working towards professional registration (IRSE or equivalent).
