Job description

The Senior Security Operations Specialist is a global role for a senior-level individual contributor in the Operations Function responsible for the consistent and high-quality delivery of day-to-day physical security operations across our portfolio of 20+ data centres in 6 countries. Working within a matrix structure, this role provides specialist operational guidance to the on-site Senior Data Centre Operations Managers (SDCOM), ensuring strict adherence to internal policies, corporate standards, and customer Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for physical security. The focus of this role is on the "how" of security delivery—ensuring processes are followed consistently and standards are met—rather than on the technical engineering of security systems.

Key Accountabilities
  • Operational assurance and compliance:Act as the primary security subject matter expert for all physical security operations across the estate. Translate corporate security policies and standards into practical, repeatable, and consistent operational procedures for on-site managers.
  • Advisory and support:Provide direct, expert guidance to data centre site managers and operational teams on all aspects of security delivery, ensuring operational tasks are executed in a standardised and compliant manner.
  • Policy and standard implementation:Drive the consistent application of corporate security policies and standards across all data centre locations. Monitor site-level compliance and work with management to close any procedural gaps.
  • SLA performance management:Work with site managers to ensure that all physical security operations meet or exceed customer SLAs. Monitor security key performance indicators (KPIs) and address any variances.
  • Incident and crisis response:Serve as the primary operational point of contact and escalation for all physical security incidents. Coordinate the initial operational response, and ensure all actions are logged and handled according to global incident response plans.
  • Auditing and assessment:Conduct and coordinate regular security audits and assessments to verify that operational teams are meeting procedural and compliance requirements. Track findings and work with site managers to ensure timely remediation.
  • Security awareness and training:Champion security awareness and best practices within data centre operational teams. Work with site managers to deliver consistent and high-impact security training to on-site staff.
  • Stakeholder collaboration:Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with SDCOM’s, Security Governance, and customer-facing teams to ensure the physical security program aligns with operational needs and business goals.
  • Reporting:Prepare and present regular reports on global operational security performance, compliance metrics, and incident trends to the Security Governance function and data centre management.
Skills & Experience
  • Extensive experience:Minimum of 6+ years of experience in managing physical security operations, with experience in a multi-site, multi-country environment. Experience within data centre or critical infrastructure sectors is highly desirable.
  • Operational leadership:Proven ability to drive operational excellence and consistency across geographically dispersed teams, even without a direct reporting structure.
  • Influence and communication:Strong ability to influence and advise site leadership and on-site operational teams. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are essential for translating complex policies into clear operational directives.
  • Problem-solving:A proactive, systematic, and logical approach to addressing operational security challenges and driving continuous improvement.
  • Customer service:Deep understanding of the customer service aspect of security and the importance of meeting agreed-upon service levels.
  • Adaptability:The ability to operate effectively across different cultural and regulatory environments.
  • Certification (desired, not required):Professional security certifications focused on operational management (e.g., Certified Protection Professional - CPP).
  • Travel:Willingness to travel internationally to support and assess data centre sites as needed.
