About the Role

The Revenue Service is a dedicated team of more than 60 staff working to collect £340 million of corporate revenue, helping Coventry provide essential services. As a Revenue Officer you will support Team Managers by quality‑checking that legislation and procedures are applied correctly, focusing mainly on Business Rates and, where desirable, Council Tax and Enforcement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review the accuracy and quality of Business Rates and Council Tax decisions.
  • Assist with mentoring new and existing staff and support team integration.
  • Maintain detailed audit records, ensuring relevant issues are fed back to the Team Manager.
  • Respond to customer complaints, enquiries from Councillors and partner organisations, identifying and implementing measures to improve service delivery and satisfaction.
  • Trial new initiatives and procedures, providing feedback to Senior Managers on any issues.
  • Deputise for the Team Manager in their absence.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Right to work in the UK; no sponsorship offered.
  • Experience in a Revenue and Benefits environment; knowledge of Business Rates and, desirable, Council Tax and Enforcement.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to motivate and lead colleagues, customers and stakeholders.
  • Able to manage and audit decisions and to improve service delivery.
