Overview

We are excited to advertise permanent Band 6 Senior Radiographer posts in the Plain Film department at NUH.

Our radiographers play a vital part in helping NUH Radiology to be the leading provider in Imaging Services across Nottinghamshire and the East Midlands through delivering excellent, caring, safe and thoughtful healthcare. To achieve this, we are looking for committed individuals to join our progressive team of Plain Film Radiographers in a Senior Radiographer role.

This is an excellent opportunity for career driven, dynamic individuals who wish to continue their professional development and further their skills in supporting the imaging of a diverse workload in plain film.

You must be a minimum of 18 months qualified and have the energy and commitment to help manage staff and workload over a 24 hour period to match the demands of the service.

You must have the ability to work flexibly on a shift pattern covering both NUH sites and Nottingham Urgent Care Centre, where we provide x-ray service for the Walk-in Centre. There are exciting plans in development to open a new Community Diagnostic centre in the City centre in 2026 which will be managed by NUH Radiology. There may be a requirement for staff to rotate to this location as part of this role.

It is essential that you are a good communicator and team player, and that you are capable of working and thinking autonomously. It will be expected that the successful candidate will support the department in all general areas within the department, theatre and mobile examinations and OOH duties.

Responsibilities
  • Promote the trust objectives and protocols to ensure high standards of patient care, clinical skills and innovation.
  • Support the department's preceptorship programme for new starters, and be responsible for the training of students.
  • Take on an extra role as needed (e.g., trainer, champion, RPS or radiology representative at certain meetings).
  • Train student and apprentice radiographers and pursue ongoing education.
  • Support general departmental activities across plain film, theatre, mobile examinations and out-of-hours duties.

  • Ability to manage staff and workload over a 24 hour period to meet service demands.
  • Flexibility to work shifts across NUH sites and Nottingham Urgent Care Centre, with potential rotation to the Community Diagnostic centre in 2026.
