A government health organization in Manchester seeks a Senior Public Involvement Advisor to engage communities in developing health guidelines. The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) exists to help improve the quality, sustainability and productivity of health and social care in England. We produce guidance and information on effective practice to support better decisions and prioritise investment across health and care. We are looking for a passionate and committed public involvement and engagement specialist to join the People and Communities team to ensure the voices of people with lived experience, their carers, families, and voluntary and community sector organisations inform NICE recommendations.

The Senior Public Involvement Advisor will join a passionate, experienced team and lead a portfolio of activities to engage and involve people and communities in the development of NICE guidelines, medicines appraisals and healthtech evaluations. They will be part of the People and Communities leadership team, deputise for the head of public involvement and engagement, and represent the team and NICE at internal, national and international levels with credibility and expertise. The role requires building strong working relationships with internal colleagues and external partners, including voluntary and community sector organisations and networks, and other experts in involving and engaging people and communities. The Senior Public Involvement Advisor will provide oversight and management of involvement across a portfolio of topics and activities, manage and lead a team of public involvement advisers, and provide expert advice on involvement methodologies and best practice. They will contribute to the three-year strategy for involving and engaging people and communities at NICE and support NICE’s broader transformational aims and strategy.
The People and Communities team advises on opportunities for involving people who use health and care services, their families, carers, communities and the public across NICE work programmes. We work with people, communities and voluntary and community sector stakeholders to ensure lived experience informs NICE guidance, standards and advice.
