Main duties of the job

Job responsibilities
  • To support the development of programmes that address Children and Young People Public Health in accordance with national and local policy
  • To develop working relationships with key stakeholders across all partner organisations to facilitate effective cross boundary working across Bromley, South East London, regionally and nationally.

3. Lead the development of a collaborative partnership approach by supporting multi-agency childhood obesity group.

4. Lead multi-agency work to strengthen pathways in Bromley, implementing best practice to improve co-ordinated approaches to support children and young people

5. Lead the commissioning and performance management of contracts with community provider organisations

6. Plan and review commissioning cycles for CYP Programmes and liaise with relevant departments (such as Procurement, Legal and HR) in developing business cases

7. Lead in developing provider development and quality management for Public Health contracts, in particular for children and young peoples services

8. Contribute to the strategic development of Public Health practice and corporate responsibilities as part of the Public Health Department Management Team.

9. Undertake any other duties commensurate with the level of the post, as required to ensure the efficient and effective running of the organisation

10. Directly line manage Business Support Officers, supervise and appraise in line with the organisations policy and guidance

Person Specification
Experience
  • Recent significant experience in public health population programmes
  • Experience of public / stakeholder engagement
  • Experience of working on the development, commissioning and implementation of Public Health programmes
  • Experience of leading joint projects within the health and local authority landscape
  • Experience of budget management and financial processes
  • Experience of leadership within a changing environment
Qualifications
  • Educated to Degree level or equivalent experience
  • Evidence of continued professional development
Knowledge
  • Knowledge of the principles and practice of public health including health needs assessment and evidence-based strategies to address health inequalities
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing Health Improvement programmes
  • Understanding of health, social care and education policy relating to children and young people
  • Demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of the changes in Local Authority and the healthcare environment and structures
  • Advanced knowledge of health and education and social care systems as they affect children and a clear vision of what needs to be implemented in order to strengthen local systems relating to children and young people.
