Weare an ambitious organisation providing specialist palliative care services, completelyfree of charge, to patients and their families across a wide stretching areafrom Wrexham, Flintshire, East Denbighshire to Barmouth and the border towns ofOswestry and Whitchurch. It costs £5.6million per year to run the Hospice, with only 20% of our funding provided bythe government. We are reliant on thesupport of the community we serve to donate and fundraise to maintain our vitalservices. Over 400 volunteers give theirtime to the Hospice to help us run efficiently and effectively as part of thelocal community. This year NightingaleHouse Hospice is celebrating 30 years of providing compassionate care and striveto see this continue for future generations.

We are looking for an experiencedphysiotherapist to support the continued development of our rehabilitationservices across Nightingale House. The role offers an opportunity to buildexperience in hydrotherapy as well as utilising existing skills to meet the needs ofpatients with a range of conditions and symptoms. Nightingale House offers theopportunity to become part of a specialist multi-disciplinary team workingacross in-patient, and day unit and out-patient services. NHS pension is transferable.

Main duties of the job

Toprovide specialist physiotherapy/hydrotherapy to patients, including those withcomplex needs, referred to Nightingale House Hospice; working within themulti-disciplinary team as an autonomous practitioner, ensuring high standardsof patient care are maintained in accordance with all Nightingale House Hospiceaims, policies, procedures and guidelines.

Toprovide assessment and evaluation of individual patients needs and implementplans in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team.

Toact as a resource and support for hospice staff and other health professionalsby offering specialist knowledge and skills.

Todeputise for the Rehabilitation Team Leader in operational management of thedepartment.

Toassist in the development, co-ordination and delivery of a comprehensivephysiotherapy service in close co-operation with the Rehabilitation TeamLeader.

Tosupervise and mentor the Technical Instructor, Physiotherapy Assistant,Volunteers and Students.

Participate in department and hospice research andaudit.

Lead, with a core hospice team, the manual handlingtraining and updates for clinical staff at NHH.

RiskManagement

It is a standard element of the roleand responsibility of all staff of the Hospice that they fulfil a proactiverole towards the management of risk in all of their actions. This entails therisk assessment of all situations, the taking of appropriate actions andreporting of all incidents, near misses and hazards. It is a requirement thatyou adhere to Nightingale House Hospice Policies, Procedures, Protocols andguidelines at all times.

Health and Safety Requirements of the Hospice

All employees of the Hospice have a statutory duty of carefor their own personal safety and that of others who may be affected by theiracts or omissions. Employees arerequired to co-operate with management to enable the Hospice to meet its ownlegal duties and to report any hazardous situations or defective equipment.

DataProtection and Confidentiality

The post holder must treat all information, whethercorporate, staff or patient information, in a discreet, secure and confidentialmanner in accordance with the provisions of the current data protectionlegislation and organisational policy. Any breach of such confidentialityis considered a serious disciplinary offence, which is liable to dismissal and/ or prosecution under statutory legislation and the hospices disciplinarypolicy. This duty of confidencecontinues after the post holder leaves the organisation.

RecordsManagement

As an employee of the hospice, the post holder islegally responsible for all records that they gather, create or use as part oftheir work within the organisation (includingpatient health, staff health or injury, financial, personal andadministrative), whether paper based or on computer. The post holder should consult the IG Lead ifthey have any doubt as to the correct management of records with which theywork.
