Job Description

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer to join the Aberdeen team. The role involves supporting and developing their Service Provider infrastructure, as well as being directly involved in the research, design, deployment, and support of key services for their customers.

NOTE: THIS IS AN ABERDEEN-BASED HYBRID ROLE (WITH ON-CALL). CANDIDATES MUST BE LOCATED LOCALLY AND AUTHORIZED TO WORK IN THE UK. NO SPONSORSHIP OR VISAS WILL BE CONSIDERED.

The key responsibilities include:

1. Improving the efficiency and stability of current networks, primarily in Cisco, Juniper Meraki, and Palo Alto environments.
2. Designing and implementing new network solutions focusing on availability and security, with a strong understanding of the supporting infrastructure.

Essential Requirements

• Experience designing solutions for various network environments as a Senior Network Engineer.
• Degree or equivalent in a relevant technical engineering discipline.
• Commitment to delivering exceptional customer support and building trust.
• Strong experience in deploying, configuring, and supporting firewalls, routers, and switches to maximize network availability, efficiency, and security.
• Experience working within and developing an ITIL environment.
• Proficiency in monitoring, diagnosing, and troubleshooting network and infrastructure faults and performance issues.
• Understanding of cybersecurity principles, priorities, and incident management.
• Project management experience ensuring the delivery of milestones across multiple projects.
• Excellent customer-facing skills and experience supporting pre-sales activities.
• Passion for knowledge sharing and developing colleagues.
• The ability to participate in an on-call rota and provide support.
• Keeping up-to-date with the latest industry technologies and updates.
• Ability to write and maintain technical documentation.

Desirable Skills

• Vendor certifications such as Cisco, Palo Alto, Juniper.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity standards like Cyber Essentials Plus, IASME, ISO27001.
• Experience working within Agile or Prince2 project management frameworks.
• Experience in research, development, and rollout of new services.
• Experience with Azure/Microsoft 365.
