Job Title: Senior Mechanical Estimator
Location: West London
Salary: £80,000 – £90,000
Overview

A highly skilled and experienced Senior Mechanical Estimator is needed to undertake a crucial role, demonstrating extensive knowledge in mechanical and electrical systems, general building, fitting out, estimating, pre-construction management, commercial management, contract and construction management, and technical services. Expertise in mechanical packages such as ventilation, air conditioning, and plumbing is essential.

  • Project Values: £100k to £15m
  • Sectors: Various, with a focus on Capital plant / infrastructure upgrades
Responsibilities
  • Prepare, settle, and submit tenders, ensuring a solid cost base and minimized risks in line with company procedures.
  • Obtain multiple quotes to ensure accurate market costs and identify opportunities at the tender stage.
  • Engage in negotiations with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers, maintaining strong professional relationships.
  • Direct and liaise with staff in preconstruction and estimating phases, ensuring clear and concise tender handovers with transparent risks and opportunities.
  • Assist in developing and implementing estimation software and a library of pre-construction information.
  • Prepare tender settlement documents and assist with project costing and estimating efficiency.
  • Implement client policies and procedures across various domains including HR, IT, health and safety, environmental issues, communications, and branding.
  • Develop and manage a reliable supply chain and assist with the training and development of junior staff.
Key Duties
  • Comply with and develop client policies, including those covering tender review, estimating, procurement, tender settlement, and project completion.
  • Prepare accurate cost estimates and present commercial aspects of the tender for internal approval.
  • Review proposed contracts to ensure they are fair and identify any non-standard clauses.
  • Support engineering and commercial teams in preparing subcontract and material enquiries.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in cost control and budget management within mechanical contracting.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of construction management principles.
