A leading engineering firm is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer based in Glasgow for a minimum 12-month contract. The role involves supporting the design and delivery of building services systems in nuclear facilities. Candidates must hold a Mechanical Engineering degree, possess experience in building services and HVAC design, and be able to perform calculations. This position offers a hybrid work model of three days in the office and two days working from home.

Job description

We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer based out of Glasgow for our NTSP project.

Min 12 month contract

Candidates MUST be UK national and are required to get MOD baseline security.

About the project:

Will involve working as part of a JV team on the Nuclear Technical Support Provider (NTSP) framework. This seven-year framework, with the option of a further three years, will deliver specialist nuclear technical services valued between £250 million to £400 million to support DIO, Navy Command, and other MOD organisations.

The framework will support the Clyde Infrastructure Programme (CIP) and wider Royal Navy and defence requirements. Its primary focus will be on delivering the refurbishment and upgrade of critical infrastructure at HMNB Clyde.

Day to day:

You’ll be involved in supporting the design and delivery of building services systems - such as HVAC, lighting, water, and fire protection - within complex nuclear facilities. You’ll help prepare technical documentation, contribute to CAD modelling and system layouts, and assist in performance analysis and compliance checks. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, you’ll ensure building services solutions meet safety, quality, and regulatory standards. You’ll also support project planning, engage with clients and stakeholders, and have opportunities to grow your expertise in delivering innovative, sustainable, and compliant building services solutions.

Requirements:
  • Mechanical Engineering Degree qualified
  • Building services experience
  • HVAC design experience
  • Required to do calculations, flow calculations behind the drawings. Designing to a code.
  • 3 days in office and 2 days WFH
