A leading defence contractor in Barrow-in-Furness is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to focus on HVAC and Cooling Systems. You will gather and manage heatload data essential for the design and integration of environmental systems. Strong analytical and communication skills, along with a STEM-related degree, are required. This role offers a 6-month contract with a high likelihood of extension.

As part of the HVAC and Cooling teams, you will play a key role in gathering, managing, and analysing heatload data for all equipment consumers across the submarine platform. This is a critical task that underpins the design and integration of the overall cooling and environmental systems. The role requires engineers who can combine strong technical judgement with persistence and attention to detail, ensuring data is accurate, robust, and aligned with system requirements.

You will join the HVAC and Cooling teams within the Platform Mechanical Integrated Delivery Team a group responsible for the design and integration of environmental and thermal management systems across the submarine platform. While the work is focused and repetitive in nature, it is essential to the success of the programme and requires the persistence, diligence, and technical judgement of competent engineers. You will work closely with system leads and equipment owners to ensure accurate and reliable heatload data is available to drive design decisions.
