Job description

Mechanical Design Engineer Summary: The Mechanical Design Engineer will provide mechanical design and technical expertise to support project delivery across a variety of sectors including education (new build schools for the DfE), colleges, universities, high–rise residential, large–scale commercial projects, stadia, and healthcare. Working closely with the Project Team, Project Leader, and wider Design Team, the role ensures consistent production of technically sound and well–considered design solutions. The successful candidate will represent the company with professionalism and enthusiasm, maintaining the highest standards of technical excellence.

Key responsibilities include collaborating effectively with internal and external project stakeholders, adhering to quality assurance processes, and supporting project timescales and resource planning. The role involves leading by example, providing guidance and support to junior engineers, and driving the development of design aspects to achieve efficient and effective outcomes.

Technical duties encompass carrying out design calculations, producing drawings, reports, and specifications that clearly communicate system requirements, and utilising digital delivery resources to maintain quality and meet deadlines. The role encourages continuous professional development and knowledge sharing within the team to enhance technical expertise and project delivery standards.

Projects typically span RIBA stages 0 to 6, covering planning, performance and tender packs, detailed and technical design, construction support, inspection and snagging, and handover phases.
