JOB – Senior Mechanical Design Engineer (Building Services)

LOCATION – Cambridge

TERM – Permanent

SALARY – £40,000 to £55,000 per annum (plus benefits)

My client is a leading Building Services consultancy working across a wide range of commercial and industrial projects. They are looking to expand their engineering team by taking on a Mechanical Design Engineer to work in their offices in Cambridge.

The Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:

• Experience in Mechanical Building Services Design (HVAC, heating, cooling, ventilation, etc.)

• Relevant Engineering qualification (HNC, HND, BEng, MEng, or equivalent) in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering

• Good knowledge of UK building regulations and industry standards (CIBSE, ASHRAE, etc.)

• Familiarity with design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or Hevacomp

• Strong communication skills for client and team interaction

• Ability to work on multiple projects to deadlines

• Keen to develop professionally and work towards Chartered status

The Mechanical Design Engineer role will involve:

• Producing detailed mechanical design drawings and calculations for a range of building services projects

• Working on HVAC, pipework, ductwork, and mechanical systems design

• Preparing technical documentation, specifications, and reports

• Coordinating with internal teams, contractors, and clients

• Providing technical support throughout project stages from concept to completion

• Ensuring all designs meet client requirements, budget, and compliance standards
