Overview
We are looking for a Senior Maintenance Engineer to join our team, managing a small team of 2–4 engineers. This is a hands-on role, performing maintenance tasks on warehousing equipment and facilities. You will be self-motivated with ambitions to progress within the company, focusing on improving efficiency and delivering cost savings while managing the Maintenance department.
Responsibilities
- Manage a team of 2-4 engineers, providing guidance to ensure high-quality and efficient maintenance performance.
- Conduct planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance tasks including mobile racking maintenance and repairs, management of dock levellers and loading bays, floor repairs, roller/slide door repairs or replacement, conveyors, and facilities.
- Maintain and document accurate records of maintenance activities and planning schedules, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost-saving initiatives.
- Liaise with external contractors and service providers as the main point of contact.
- Ensure all maintenance work complies with health and safety regulations and company policies including regulatory controls.
- Take day-to-day decisions necessary to maintain an efficient and effective service; escalate complex matters to the Operations Manager or Head of Operations.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Proven experience in a similar multi-skilled maintenance role within a warehousing, logistics, distribution, or manufacturing environment.
- Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Self-motivated and ambitious attitude with desire to progress in the business.
- Welding skills would be advantageous but not essential.
- Experience of leading and managing a team.
- Relevant technical qualifications (City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3 in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, 18th Edition Wiring Regulations).
- Strong understanding of health and safety regulations.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Working hours: 8am – 5pm Monday – Friday (some weekend / evening callouts may be required)
Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 Per Annum DOE
