Job summary

A leading recruitment agency is seeking a Senior / Lead Project Planner for a major infrastructure programme in the Scottish Highlands. The successful candidate will take on significant responsibilities for programme planning and control from design through to construction. Essential qualifications include demonstrable experience in planning and scheduling, strong knowledge of Primavera P6, and excellent stakeholder management skills. This role will require working in remote environments, supporting large-scale projects.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience as a Senior / Lead Planner on major infrastructure or construction projects.
  • Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts and programme control.
  • Ability to operate in remote or challenging environments.

Responsibilities

Job Title: Senior / Lead Project Planner
Location: Scottish Highlands
Type: Contract

PLEASE NOTE: ONLY candidates who have full right to work in the UK holding either a UK passport, or Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) will be considered for this position.

Summary

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Project Planner to join a major UK infrastructure programme delivering large-scale network reinforcement works across remote and environmentally sensitive locations.

The Role

As Senior Project Planner, you will take overall responsibility for programme planning and control across a complex, multi discipline scheme from design through construction and commissioning.

You will work closely with delivery teams across multiple workstreams, supporting leadership with reliable programme intelligence, scenario planning and progress reporting.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, manage and maintain fully integrated project programmes
  • Establish baselines, targets and lookahead schedules
  • Monitor progress and performance against the programme
  • Identify risks, critical path and constraints
  • Produce reports to support project decision-makingUndertake delay analysis and programme updates
  • Support change control and forecasting
  • Coordinate planning inputs across design, delivery and supply chain
  • Ensure planning governance and best practice are applied
  • Contribute to performance improvement and recovery planning
Essential Requirements
  • Demonstrable experience as a Senior / Lead Planner on major infrastructure or construction projects
  • Strong working knowledge of planning and scheduling tools (Primavera P6 or equivalent)
  • Understanding of NEC contracts and programme control
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to operate in remote or challenging environments
  • Problem solving mindset and attention to detail
Desirable
  • Experience in utilities, power, rail, highways or large scale civils
  • Exposure to environmentally sensitive or logistically complex projects
  • Degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline
