Delivery of legal advice to projects and legal training to business. Delivers the business strategy for the team/function and supports plans for the function, providing advice and solutions to support business.

Responsibilities
  • Inputs and delivers to elements of the legal function strategic plan and provision of legal advice and support.
  • Identifying and implementing continuous improvement plans and identifies key business improvements and processes.
  • Carrying out and supporting the review of tender contracts and legal agreements for business projects.
  • Responsible for the delivery of training programmes to the business on legal and contractual risks and issues.
  • Providing guidance and directions to junior members of the legal team and delegates responsibilities as and when required to appropriate team resources.
  • Providing comprehensive advice on arising issues, insured risks and commercial queries.
  • Developing and maintaining a series of both internal and external relationships.
  • Providing mentoring/training to members of the team.
  • Sharing technical/functional/domain expertise to upskill capabilities of team members to support development of individuals and service provision.
  • Working collaboratively towards the common goal of net zero carbon transition and share responsibility for the proactive identification and management of the associated carbon emissions and reductions during the delivery of work.
Requirements
  • Working knowledge and expertise in complex legal matters.
  • Utilising experience and expertise to recommend solutions to legal issues to senior stakeholders. (Up to Project Director).
  • Conversant with industry forms of contract e.g. new engineering contract (NEC), joint contracts tribunal (JCT), international federation of consulting engineers. (FIDIC).
  • Qualified construction lawyer in England and Wales, or a relevant jurisdiction. (or local equivalent).
Desirable / You will also have
  • Communicating complex ideas/technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
  • Managing, influencing and negotiating with key senior stakeholders (up to Project Director).
  • Assisting with managing and delivering change.
  • Excellent negotiation skills.
  • Guiding, coaching, upskilling and developing team members including junior/support roles.
  • Adept at managing multiple priorities and stakeholders and solving complex problems utilising legal expertise.
