Senior Hydrogeologist / Geologist

£45,000 - £55,000

Shrewsbury

The position involves working within a multidisciplinary team of hydrogeologists, water specialists, and land management professionals. The successful candidate will evaluate how land development influences water resources and water quality, as well as assess risks linked to environmental incidents and contaminated land.

You will apply geological and hydrogeological expertise to support the development of water supplies, undertake water balance and flood-related assessments, and contribute to planning and permitting activities.

The role offers involvement across all stages of project delivery, including desk‑based research, field monitoring, planning and supervision of site investigations, and the preparation of technical reports. These may include quantitative risk assessments, conceptual hydrogeological models, and proposals for remediation strategies.

Required Competencies and Experience
  • A bachelor's degree in Geology, Earth Science, or a related discipline is essential.
  • A master's degree in Hydrogeology is advantageous.
  • A strong commitment to delivering high‑quality work within agreed timeframes and budgets. Recent high‑calibre graduates with commercial awareness will also be considered.
  • Field experience—or a willingness to learn—covering drilling techniques in various geological environments, as well as the collection of soil, groundwater, and surface‑water monitoring data, and aquifer testing.
  • Experience in hydrogeological risk and impact assessment.
  • Chartered status or an ambition to pursue chartership with a relevant professional body.
