Hargreaves Lansdown, a leading FTSE 100 FinTech company, is undergoing a technology transformation.

As part of this journey, we are creating a Hybrid Cloud Team that will transform our Infrastructure Estate and move HL towards a Hybrid Cloud deployment, using VMWare on premise and AWS native services.

As a Senior Hybrid Cloud Engineer, you will a Cloud Ambassador in the business, reaching out to various teams to champion services we can offer and support from within the AWS portfolio, you will be a self-starter about to help create a road map for this team to deliver services back to the business.

The Senior Hybrid Cloud Engineer role offers a great opportunity as a blank sheet of paper to come in and help create a new operating model for cloud services here at HL. You will also be managing the existing on-premises Infrastructure estate, assisting with the migration of services to AWS and ultimately managing the AWS platform.

What you'll be doing
  • Work collaboratively to deliver projects in a timely and organised manner
  • Seek innovative solutions, improvements, enhancements and automation wherever possible
  • Monitoring and management of AWS, VMware, Compute, Storage and Backup estates including participation in the on call rota
  • Technical lead for VMware, Compute, Storage, Monitoring and Backup technologies
  • Providing technical leadership, direction, and strategy, aligned with business objectives across all technologies in scope for this team
  • Proactively troubleshoot complex issues
  • Creating, driving, managing and operating processes to ensure performance, capacity and availability are managed effectively to exceed business objectives
  • Integrating our infrastructure management processes with DevSecOps technologies to bring robust automation to our infrastructure management
  • Occasional out of hours work/ call support work for updates, incidents and fixes is expected
  • Ensure that documentation is completed and kept up to date post project delivery to allow for BAU support

As a Senior Engineer, within your SME technology remit, you will be responsible for:

  • Creating and owning components of the technology roadmap and infrastructure architecture strategy
  • Being the technical escalation point for Incident/ Major Incident and Problem Management
  • The ongoing management and optimisation of monitoring and alerting services
  • Technical approval for Change Management procedures to support impact analysis and provide governance on changes requested by the team
  • Creating and managing Technical IT documentation, including standards, policies and processes
About you
  • Extensive experience working in an Enterprise environment supporting AWS (VPC, EC2, CloudWatch, EKS, RDS, S3, EBS)
  • Knowledge of supporting on-premises Compute Platforms, VMware, Enterprise Storage and Backup Solutions
  • Management of system monitoring technologies
  • Experience working in a change control environment
  • Experience of managing risk
  • Solution focused mindset - with the ability to use own experience to develop innovative solutions and resolve complex issues
  • Accomplished in forging effective relationships at all levels, skilled at influencing, negotiating, and managing challenging conversations with ease
  • Able to work in a team or alone and effectively collaborate to achieve common goals plus the ability to self-manage competing workloads and effectively prioritise to meet deadlines
  • Regularly looking to continually improve your own, and the wider team's performance, actively promoting change and continuous improvement
Interview process

This will be two stage interview process, consisting of a presentation.

Working Schedule & Salary

We are looking for 2 Senior Hybrid Cloud Engineers to join our team, for the right candidate we may consider fully remote working or hybrid working to our office in. This role is permanent, full time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
