Qualifications

• HNC / HND or Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
• Experience in 400kV GIS substation.
• SSE C1 / C3 authorized.
• Extensive, proven experience in HV commissioning within utilities, renewables, or substations.
• Strong practical knowledge of relevant tools and equipment.
• Authorisation under recognised safety rules (e.g., TP141, National Grid, SSE).
• Expert understanding of Safe Systems of Work, switching principles, and RAMS.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Demonstrated leadership or senior-level engineering experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and carry out testing and commissioning of high-voltage electrical systems.
• Lead and perform primary / secondary injection testing and protection relay testing.
• Develop, review, and approve commissioning plans and documentation.
• Coordinate site activities with stakeholders.
• Provide technical expertise and troubleshoot issues.
• Mentor commissioning engineers and promote best practices.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support project planning with technical input during various stages.

Skills

HNC / HND or Degree in Electrical Engineering

Experience in 400kV GIS substation

SSE C1 / C3 authorized

Extensive experience in HV commissioning

Practical knowledge of Omicron, Megger, Micom

Authorisation under recognised safety rules

Understanding of Safe Systems of Work
